This is what compromise feels like. Words don’t do much for the real things people feel. They can come close sometimes, but they never get it just right. They can only come close. Don’t forget that. And sometimes they come really close. But where they miss is just an empty space left for you to fill. Most of the time it’s just really sad people at a keyboard, trying to say what they feel. And when they say it, it sounds sentimental and cliché, even if it is real. Describe it all they want, get as overly sentimental as they want, but they’ll only ever come close to the real thing. And that’s if they’re lucky. And honestly, that’s as best as anyone has ever really done. So when you feel terrible, just say you feel terrible. When you’re heart is broken, just say your heart is broken. When you are sad, just tell us you are sad. We’ll believe you. Sometimes we don’t care how well you can describe how you are feeling. Just let us know that you are actually feeling something.
Right now, I’m sad. I’m really really very terribly horribly sad about leaving a place that, in all honesty, I shouldn’t even care about all that much. But I do anyway, because sometimes life side-blinds people. And I bet you know how I feel, even if I didn’t say it right.
