I’m currently writing an article with the intent of publication. Might not happen, but I will finish the article. The article is going to show how consumer culture is impacting the decisions we make regarding pets and pet “ownership.” I use the term “ownership” loosely. We don’t own pets, no more than we own people. Hope you keep your eye out for it in the next few weeks.
Thanks for reading.

Best of luck with the article. It’s an interesting subject you are writing about and certainly something important to address.

Good luck. I’m really curious to see what you write simply because you mention ‘we don’t own pets’.

I agree with absolutely everything in this short paragraph. Are you going to post any links to your article?

If they take it, I’ll definitely post a link. I’m writing it for a “Writing and Editing for Publication” class. I’ll post the rough draft of it in a week or so.

I look forward to reading it. The acquiring of “status dogs” like staffies has led to a lot of animals being abandoned and put down because once people get them they can’t be bothered to to train them, walk them or look after them. Taking an animal into your home means you commit to looking after it for the whole of its life, and its life literally depends on you. It’s not a decision to be taken lightly.

Interesting point. Though they are considered as assets, I’m not really sure if we own the animal, or even the right to the animal. From a purely literal perspective, we do exchange currency for them, so I guess literally, we do. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

As a visually impaired guide dog owner I look forward to reading your article. Dog ownership brings with it many responsibilities. Even if it is pouring down with rain one still needs to ensure that your four legged friend gets their walk. Dogs give so much to us the least we can do is treat them with kindness which doesn’t mean allowing them to sleep on the furniture (my dog is welcome to sleep in my bedroom but he stays on the floor by the side of the bed never sleeping on it)!

Hope it gets published. As a former ferret owner (I still miss my little guy), I know education is badly needed by the public. Glad someone’s taking it on!
The following url is my signature, a suggestion by a marketing expert. It is a book, not anything to do with ferrets. Though they would be a fun addition. http://llynkc.wix.com/kacie-llyn#

Good luck with the article! I know what you mean about not owning pets…I pay the bills and buy the food and the pets graciously let me live in the same house

That’s a cute ferret you have there. I’m owned by birds.
